State-of-the-Art Phantom VEO 710S High-Speed Camera Expands Our Research Capabilities

We are pleased to announce that our Institute has upgraded its laboratory facilities with the modern Phantom VEO 710S high-speed camera. This advanced tool significantly expands our current research capabilities and opens new avenues for cooperation in the precise recording of high-speed phenomena. The device is currently being implemented for use in ongoing and future testing projects.

Key Technical Specifications

The Phantom VEO 710S is a top-tier piece of equipment designed for maximum precision in demanding laboratory environments. Its most important features include:

  • High Frame Rates: Over 7,500 frames per second (fps) at full resolution (1280 x 800 pixels) and up to 1,000,000 fps at reduced resolution (throughput of 7.5 Gpx/s).
  • High-Capacity Memory: 36 GB of RAM, ensuring a relatively long recording time for high-speed sequences for this class of equipment.
  • Versatile Optics: Equipped with lenses that allow for the recording of phenomena from distances ranging from a few tens of centimeters up to several meters, depending on the object’s dimensions and the event being recorded.
  • Advanced Triggering: The system features both hardware and software triggers. The buffering function allows the camera to retain up to a few seconds of footage prior to the moment the measurement is triggered (pre-trigger).
  • Monochrome Sensor (Mono): Guarantees maximum light sensitivity and edge sharpness. This is crucial for precise measurements at ultra-short exposure times, reaching as low as 1 us.

Applications in Research and Testing

The camera’s exceptional parameters allow for the detailed analysis of events that last only fractions of a second. Current and planned applications of the equipment in our laboratory include:

  • Velocity and trajectory measurements of projectiles during ballistic tests using a pneumatic gun.
  • Detailed analysis of airbag deployment and inflation processes.
  • Recording of impact moments, mechanical deformations, and explosions (e.g., of electronic components such as capacitors).
  • Analysis of other instantaneous mechanical and physical interactions.

We encourage you to contact us to discuss the possibilities of utilizing the Phantom VEO 710S camera in your research and development projects.wych.
