Test scope and purpose

BOSMAL performs tests on rechargeable energy storage systems (REESS/RESS), including:

  • “Mechanical Shock” testing in accordance with Annex 9C to UN Regulation No. 100;
  • “Inertial Load at Vehicle Crash” testing in accordance with ISO 6469-1:2019, Clause 6.4.1.1.2.

The tests reproduce acceleration pulses and inertial loads that may act on an energy storage system during a vehicle collision. They enable the structural integrity and safety performance of the system under test, including its high-voltage circuits, to be assessed.

The maximum permissible mass of the test item, including measurement equipment, is 600 kg.

Dynamic hydraulic test system

Testing is performed using a dynamic hydraulic test system capable of precisely generating high-energy acceleration pulses corresponding to the required test profiles.

Key technical parameters:

  • Hydraulic actuator: maximum force of 400 kN, stroke of 800 mm and maximum velocity of 9 m/s.
  • Test table: linear-bearing platform with a working area of 245 × 145 cm.
  • Hydraulic accumulators: energy storage for generating dynamic pulses.
  • Air-cooled hydraulic pump: working pressure of 280 bar, reservoir capacity of 200 litres and nominal flow rate of 40 l/min.
  • Hydraulic manifold: nominal working pressure of 280 bar.
  • Control system: closed-loop control and dedicated test software for generating and iteratively adjusting control signals to achieve the required acceleration pulse profile.

The test system can also be used to test other vehicle components against individually defined load and acceleration profiles.
